Brent Lau – COO & CFO

Brent grew up in the construction industry with his dad and grandfather owning a small general contractor in St. Cloud and he always knew that the he would be part of the industry someday. During his years at St. Cloud State University obtaining his degree in accounting, Brent spent his summers working at Summit Fire Protection installing fire protection systems. This really gave him an appreciation of what goes on in the field.

After graduation, Brent started working in public accounting with a strong focus on construction companies and took the lead role on his engagements after only one year of experience. He obtained his CPA certification and made his way up to manager before moving to the private sector.

The last 10 years Brent has held the lead accounting and finance role to help private construction companies bridge the gap between operations and finance by developing strong financial reporting, creating realistic and accurate projections, identifying cost savings measures, thoroughly reviewing risk management, enhancing safety programs, and developing and maintaining business relationships.

Most recently Brent was named as the 2020 MN Business Journal CFO of the Year for medium sized businesses. Brent has been involved with the following organizations throughout his career: NECA (National Electrical Contractors Association), MSA (Minnesota Subcontractor Association), CFMA (Construction Financial Management Association) MNCPA (Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants), The CEO Roundtable Key Leaders Program and AGC (Association of General Contractors).
